Bazán's series, Absent Music, is a journey into the hidden influence of sound on memory. Rather than painting music directly, Bazán creates visual representations of what remains after the sound has faded. The result is a collection of paintings and works on paper that act as a visual diary of forgotten thoughts and powerful emotions. By translating the intangible world of music into the concrete language of painting, Bazán reveals the immense power of art. His pieces show how an external stimulus—like a song—can leave a deep and lasting mark on our internal, emotional world. Some works in the series may evoke a distinct sound, like the sea heard in a piano key or the static of a needle on vinyl, while others might recall the soft, floating melodies of a composer like Satie. Sergio Bazan
ergio Bazan he was born in Buenos Aires in 1962. He studied at Juan Carlos Distéfano's drawing and painting workshop and participated in the Kuitca Scholarship offered by Fundación Antorchas. In addition, he was a professor of Visual Arts in Buenos Aires and in the interior of the country. His works are centered on musical representation, through staves, notes or album covers, and images of the artists. Since 1991 he has exhibited individually and his “Black Market” shows have stood out, at the Recoleta Cultural Center; “Meninas”, in Espacio Giesso; “Paintings in the Mun”, in the Mun Gallery; “Arts and media”, at the Torcuato Di Tella University; “Mussorgsky”, at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Bahía Blanca, among others. He also had his role in collective exhibitions in Buenos Aires, Bahía Blanca, Mar del Plata, Washington DC, New York, Amsterdam, Monterrey, Philadelphia, Tijuana, Paris, Chicago, Basel, Miami, and Madrid. He obtained the Constantini 99 awards, MNBA; “Arte/30/Basel”, Diana Lowenstein Fine Arts Gallery, Basel; “Books from the End of the World,” The Art Institute of Chicago; Arte BA 99, Palermo Fairgrounds; among others.
