This is a large hand painted Artist's Proof, (oil and gold leaf on Giclee),
it's the only one proof of this image, 90 % of the proof is hand painted by the artist, Shizico Yi; its outstanding visual presence promises to bring huge impact to your space. It's as unique as an original! highly collectable.
About the painting:
The Summer Bloom Series is an ongoing project that Shizico Yi works on every summer painting plein air in her garden. She began gardening in 2015 to create a large, healing space for her then ill, elderly dog. After her Labrador passed away, this memorial garden became a source of inspiration for her art and provided a place of solace as she coped with her grief.
This painting captures the sky on a summer night, with moonlight glowing on her herbaceous border. For this series, Shizico adopted a new approach, painting in the colours she desired rather than the landscape's real-life hues. This method allows her to become highly sensitive to tones and shapes, rather than habitually matching colours to reality.
Gold leaf, one of her signature materials, symbolises not only the light and warmth of the season but also serves as a device for her to explore space and time in a two-dimensional language. These self-imposed directions—materials, colours, and concepts for each series—infuse her landscapes with a touch of magical aura.
This series of paintings stand as a testament to her imagination, bold and always evolving techniques and the profound inspiration she draws from her natural surroundings especially her own gardens where she grows plants and re-makes her very own landscape.

About the Artist
Dr. Shizico Yi, the UK artist working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns about the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories . With design and film background, Shizico combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London. She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.

Shizico Yi's work aims to explore artistic obsession through repetitive documentation of the domestic and the everyday.
