This painting is a part of the Summer Bloom Series. Night Bloom Jasmine, commonly known as Lady of the Night, has the sweetest scent and attracts moths and bats in the wild,
though in the UK, Lady of the Night is great for Shizico's indoor garden collections. Shizico Yi, the artist, has created an indoor garden for her cat, intended to bring nature closer to Sonny, her beloved cat, to enjoy better indoor living in the long winter months.
Shizico painted this painting over three months. The shimmering gold oil paint, delicate gold leaf, and bold strokes of oil paint intertwine with layers of gesso and acrylic, capturing the essence of 100 days of artistic exploration.
This painting has evolved, layer by layer, reflecting the artist's dedication and creative journey. Each stage of its development is etched into the canvas, revealing a rich tapestry of colours and textures.

Dr. Shizico Yi is a London based artist, working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns about the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories . With design and film background, Shizico combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London. She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.
