About the Item
This set includes two paintings:

-Day: Willow Pond in Autumn-Autumn Series (50 H x 60 W)

In this series, Shizico Yi focuses on a new approach which she paints the negative spaces, each brushstroke is the process of carve out the spaces around the outline of the objects whether is a tree, a flower or a leaf or a lake.
This concept allows her to explore the interplay of light and shadow in a new unique way, emphasizing the negative space between the plants and trees in relation with the the landscape/skylines around them;
by doing so, she is able to paint in the dark for the night scenes without having much nature light, she was able to capture the negative space without much difficulty in the dark.
This set paintings, Day and Night over 2 seasons give her landscapes a touch of magical aura.
Her paintings stand as a testament to her imagination, bold and always evolving techniques and the profound inspiration she draws from her natural surroundings especially her own gardens where she grows plants and re-makes her very own landscape.

About the Artist
Dr. Shizico Yi is a UK artist working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns about the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories .
With design and film background, Shizico combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London. She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.
Started in 2015, she makes gardens and continues to create her own landscape and herbaceous boarders to inspire her artworks and find healing in the process of painting and gardening.

Dr. Shizico Yi, a London-based artist, is associated GSY Studio and British Art Network. She specializes in installations, films, and paintings, with her work often revolving around themes of loss, repetition, the mundane, and the significance of memories to a person. Drawing from her background in design and film, Shizico intertwines her passions to create installation and projects that reflect her personal experiences within the broader context of society and the human condition. Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art, awarded by UEL in the UK in 2017. She also completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL, London.
