Each of these collages were made by Syril for her husband, Walter, on the occasion of his birthday.
Syril Harriet Frank was born in Brooklyn to Israel and Mina Kaplan. She lived a long and adventurous life: Brooklyn to Cuba, China to Australia, and many stops in between - not the least of which were Florence and Paris. She studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology (1950's), and obtained a Masters Degree in Art History from CUNY (1979). In addition to her love for art, she was passionate about sailing, skiing, travel, and the beach. She was also an art collector herself.
