About the Item

1970s Tano Festa Signed and Dated Drawing Important work in marker on cardboard by the great Roman artist Tano Festa, one of the major exponents, together with Mario Schifano, of the Scuola di Piazza del Popolo. "Homage to De Chirico" Part of the series of works dedicated to great artists, in this case Giorgio De Chirico Signed and dated lower right "Festa 76". This painting, never before on the market, comes from a private collection and is beautified by an impressive antique frame in laquered wood, in almost perfect condition. Our company has been present on this platform for many years, with numerous sales made and just as many excellent reviews received that you can under our Furniture account. The painting is also protected by glass Every item of our Gallery, upon request, is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Sabrina Egidi official Expert in Italian furniture for the Chamber of Commerce of Rome and for the Rome Civil Courts. Tano Festa (Rome 1938 - 1988) was an Italian artist, painter and photographer. Brother of Francesco Lo Savio, he attended the Art Institute in Rome and graduated in photography in 1957. He trained in the example of Cy Twombly and gestural and informal painting. His first public participation took place in 1959 together with Franco Angeli and Giuseppe Uncini at a group exhibition at the La Salita gallery in Rome, where he held his first solo exhibition only in 1961. A protagonist of the Roman Pop School, he embraced New Dada solutions with formal rigour, proposing isolated monochrome objects of everyday use. Famous are the shutters, mirrors and windows, which become a support for his activity as a painter. From 1963 Festa also focused on the masters of the Italian tradition and the Renaissance, in particular the Michelangelo of the Sistine Chapel and the Medici Chapels, interpreted as advertising images. He was invited to participate in the 1965 Quadriennale in Rome and later in the 1980 Venice Biennale. During the last years of his fulminating existence, in the places of the Roman suburbs, the shacks and the last out-of-town taverns he conceived, giving birth to 'the light of Egypt', geometric-conceptual works. In 1984, he appeared in the TV series 'Artisti allo Specchio' (Artists in the Mirror) on RAI Italian Radio Television, directed by Mario Carbone. Dimensions are frame included Under existing legislation, any artwork created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died can requires a license for export regardless of the work’s market price.
