Signed lower left, 'Wood' for Virginia Wood (American, 1938-2019), additionally signed, verso, and dated 1968.
Virginia Wood studied at the University of South Carolina and, subsequently, at New York's Art Student's League before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1960s to begin her career as a fine artist. Settling in Colorado, Wood became a fixture in the Boulder art world. She became a founding member of Boulder's oldest group art-studio space, ART WORK SPACE, and both a teacher and mentor to the artists that gathered there. Wood exhibited widely and with success including in the New York Art Expo. Virginia Wood's work and life was honored with a scholarship founded in her name.
