About the Item
Neutral toned abstract expressionist painting by contemporary Texas artist Winifred Booth. The work features a blue and tan field of color reminiscent of a beach shore. Signed in the front lower right corner. Currently unframed, but options are available.
Artist Biography: Originally from Northern Ireland, Winifred moved to Texas in 1982.
From 2004 - 2006 she studied still life and landscape painting at the Williamson studio and the Houston Art League where she honed her lifelong love of painting.
For the most part a representational painter, she occasionally experimented with abstracts, but since 2018 they have been her main focus.
She is a juried member of American Women Artists where she holds associate with distinction recognition.
Her work hangs in several U.S., Canadian and European homes. A selection of her paintings may be viewed at Reeves Art and Design in Houston.
Artist’s Statement: "My paintings gradually build on themselves from a series of layers. Often it’s about removing an element as much as it is about adding one. I usually integrate something from each layer, whether texture or color, in creating what I hope is a final cohesive image."

Winifred Booth
Winifred grew up in Northern Ireland in an artistic family where drawing and
painting were favorite pastimes. After moving to Texas, and despite her love for
art, she chose to major in English at the University of Texas, Arlington, where
she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.
From 2004 – 2006 she enrolled in still-life and landscape classes at the
Williamson Studio and The Houston Art League. Over the years she has
interspersed her representational works with abstracts, but since 2018 her
primary focus has shifted to abstraction.
Using various media and a bold application approach, her paintings are created
in layers to elicit depth, structure and meaning. She finds inspiration in a broad
range of everyday events.
She is currently a member of American Women Artists (Associate with
Distinction), and her work has been juried into many competitive shows.

Tan Abstract Painting
Located in Houston, TX
Contemporary blue, brown, and tan toned gestural abstract expressionist painting by Houston based artist Kristi Haines Herman. The work features layers of swirling brushwork in various neutral tones. Signed, titled, and dated on the reverse. Currently unframed, but options are available.
Artist Biography: As an abstract painter, Kristi Haines Herman, uses her artwork to execute ideas and two-dimensional environments that create an emotional experience for the viewer. Her paintings are inspired by personal involvements and reactions to them. Phrases and words ruminate in her mind and slowly turn into abstracted figures that convey her inner thoughts. Haines Herman is highly influenced by movement as her artistic expression due to many years in dance. Movement is depicted through various gestural lines, shapes, and texture which allow the audience to venture through the canvas; thus a visual dance from one edge to another on the painting’s surface.
Ballet was Haines Herman’s first love in the art world, starting at age five. She learned to use body movement as an outward expression which allowed her to explore various audience reactions. This would later correlate with her artwork. In her late teens, dance and visual art would intertwine with time on stage as well as painting for expression. Gradually, visual art became her primary artistic avenue.
Haines Herman attended Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia, where she majored in studio art under professors Frank Hobbs and Polly Dixon. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The University of Texas at Austin. During her studies at UT, she was encouraged and challenged by many talented art professors, including Michael Mogavero, John Yancey and David...
