About the Item

Please note: n display at the Philadelphia International Airport Terminal B(8500 Essington Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19153) from June 1 through February 28, 2026. Sold artwork will be shipped to collectors following the close of the exhibition in April 2026 . "Powdered Egg Mix" is an original piece by Danielle SeeWalker made from acrylic paint on buffalo rawhide. This piece measures approx. 17” diameter and comes with a gallery-issued Certificate of Authenticity. This drum series is about Native American commodity foods that were provided to Native communities by the US Government around the time when tribes were forced to live on reservations and were no longer able to sustain their own food ways. Canned meats, boxed cheese, flour, sugar and unhealthy fats were provided as main sources of food. These foods still exist today and are the cause of many extreme health disparities that Native Americans face, including some of the highest rates of diabetes in the country. Danielle SeeWalker is a Húŋkpapȟa Lakȟóta citizen of the Standing Rock Sioux Nation in North Dakota. She is a mother, artist, muralist, writer, curator, activist and businesswoman and is currently based in Denver, Colorado. Her visual artwork often incorporates the use of mixed media and experimentation while incorporating traditional Native American materials, scenes, and messaging. Storytelling is an integral part of her artwork and pays homage to her identity as a Lakȟóta wíŋyaŋ as well as her passion to redirect the narrative to an accurate and insightful representation of contemporary Native America while still acknowledging historical events. Alongside her work as a visual artist, Danielle is a freelance writer and recently published her first book, titled “Still Here: A Past to Present Insight of Native American People Culture.” She is also very dedicated to staying connected and involved to the Native American community on the Denver American Indian Commission for the past five years and two-years as Chair. Through her work on the Commission, she has been able to be involved in several pieces of legislation that has directly affected her Native American community – including a law to abolish derogatory Native American mascots in schools (2021) and to create an Office and Liaison for Missing Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR) investigations (2022 and 2023). Danielle considers herself a “artivist” as she is able to voice many important topics through her artwork but also be boots on the ground to make change happen.

"Golden Pheasant in the Garden of Wishes"-Colorful Hyperrealist Acrylic Painting
Located in West Hollywood, CA
This vertical 48 inch high by 36 inch wide original painting on canvas is wired and ready to hang. It does not require framing. It is signed and dated by the artist on the front of the artwork. Bonasi says of her work, "In the bird series I have regained my child. With a bright color palette I experience that joy and place of safety, that state of not knowing. I examine and interpret my references loosely with no set composition in mind. Drawing right onto the canvas like a child, I build an imaginative truth that cushions me from the world. The birds cover me with their feathers and I am a hatchling in the nest of my own making." Jodi Bonassi has been actively exhibiting since 1994. She has had solo exhibitions at California State University Northridge, Coagula Curatorial, and other venues including a 2018 retrospective at The Museum of the San Fernando Valley...
