This vibrant piece, "Nose to Nose" is a 36x45" oil painting on canvas by artist David Noalia. Featured is an up-close cropping two horses, one grey and one chestnut, with their jockeys atop, moving swiftly in competition. The stride and angle of the horses appears as though they could jump out from the canvas. Noalia's use of blurred color and directional brushstrokes give a sense of swift action and motion, capturing the energetic might of thoroughbred racing. Splashes of color against a blue grey neutral background makes for a bold yet inviting composition.
About the artist:
David Noalia is a man of vision, style and colour. Renowned for his signature abstract equestrian paintings alongside exploring subject of portraiture and nature. A reoccurring subject is the Andalusian horse which captures the flavour of Spain at its best – the passion, the colour and the drama. A subject which he describes as being “essential, as it allows me to reach any person, culture - it is a universal theme and I am passionate about movement, elegance and power”. He combines artistic inspiration with timeless beauty to create memorable canvasses that have the power to transform lives. Influenced by the palette and light of Sorolla, brushstrokes of Velazquez and freshness of Gerard Richter. His paintings playfully reference the weighty history of painting in a contemporary and vivid light.
