Joran van der Haar studied the education Illustration at the academy of arts in Utrecht. After this education he got his license to be a teacher. He became a high school teacher and he combines this with being an artist. Joran himself says:
“It’s amazing to listen to Ludovico Einaudi’s music and paint for hours and hours. The smell of oil paint and mediums. Lock yourself from the outside world and everything around you…and focus on the painting on your easel.”
Joran created his own style after he graduated…but he started off with drawing collages on which he used pen and ink, and digital techniques to create colorful prints, which would be sticked onto Dibond en poured in epoxy.
In 2014 He started painting with oil paint. After he saw an exhibition in a museum he decided to paint insects and flowers, which resulted in these beautiful still-lives.

Joran van der Haar
Joran van der Haar studied illustration at the Utrecht School of the Arts from 1998–2002. After this training, he obtained his teaching qualification at the same academy between 2002–04. From 2006, he worked as a teacher in Hardenberg and combined this with artistry. Joran himself says, “It’s amazing to listen to Ludovico Einaudi’s music and paint for hours and hours. Since August 2018 Sietse W. Jonker belongs to the group of artists that we permanently represent in our stock-exposition. In mid-2019, this still-life artist will take part in a group exhibition devoted to still life in painting. His work can be seen all year round and for sale through our gallery. To get to know him, we visited the artist in his studio in Leeuwarden. a centrally located donkey and a window on the Noorderlicht dominate the space together with the still life that he is currently working on. According to the artist, a still life should not be 'made to look', in the final painting it should ultimately be an ordered harmony. The artist himself: That is not always easy and sometimes I am busy with all kinds of objects here in the house.
