Maikel van Emmerik is a Dutch wildlife painter whose art reveals a profound fascination with nature and its inhabitants. From an early age, he immersed himself in the outdoors, spending weekends hiking with his father through nature reserves. This connection with the natural world sparked a lifelong passion for animals and their habitats, which he first expressed through drawing and painting as a child. Over time, that early hobby developed into a serious artistic practice.
Although Van Emmerik initially pursued a career as a house painter and later founded his own painting business, his true calling remained wildlife art. Entirely self-taught, he was first inspired by the celebrated Dutch artist Rien Poortvliet, before finding lasting influence in the work of Belgian realist Carl Brenders. Like his mentors, Van Emmerik is devoted to realism and detail, yet his own paintings go further by emphasizing the emotional presence of animals—especially through their eyes.
Van Emmerik's work is exclusively represented by Galerie Bonnard.

Emil Morhardt is an acrylic painter from Santa Barbara, California who expresses his passion for birds through realistic acrylic paintings. He paints at home in a studio room that has large windows and a north-facing view of the mountains. He observes the animals from this window, watching roadrunners, foxes, bobcats, deer, and coyote run by. Surrounded by this wildlife, Emil paints bird portraits reminiscent of those by artist John James Audubon.
