About the Item
Marcus Hodge is known for his equine art and also for his scenes of racehorses. But is more recently experimenting with more abstract designs. Starting out as a portrait painter and becoming a member of the royal society of portrait painters. The image shows three jockeys waiting to start at the historic Goodwood racecourse near the cathedral city of Chichester in West Sussex, England. This location is a popular spot for sporting artists and racetrack fans alike. The racecourse was opened in 1801 and is still hosting racing events to this day. The course hosts a total of 36 group one flat races. Notable races include, the Sussex stakes, the Goodwood Cup, and the Nassau stakes.
