About the Item

Painted by Twiz Rimer (American, born 1982) and accompanied with Certificate of Authenticity. Authorship has been confirmed by the artist. Framed dimensions: 49.25 H x 49.5 W inches A powerful study of an animated pit bull shown directly engaging the viewer. Twiz Rimer is known for their large-scale sculptural paintings that reflect the queer community. Rimer has exhibited at the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art and at San Francisco's Femina Potens Gallery whose founder, Madison Young, has identified Rimer as one of their favorite local artists creating powerful work (SF Gate). They have shown work alongside notable artists including Judy Chicago, Harmony Hammond, the Guerrilla Girls, and many other feminist and LGBTQ+ artists. Rimer has been significant advocate for trans visibility and disability visibility, particularly in representing someone who is gender-variant and has Tourette's syndrome. Their work and public presence have contributed to broader representation of diverse gender identities and expressions within the art world and in mainstream media. Rimer is based in Brooklyn, New York, and has been an active member of the queer art community there.
