About the Item
Oil painting on wood. Title "Acequia Gorda 2". The technique is based on a direct pictorial treatment "alla prima" without prior drawing and thick lines. The focus is on the harmony of the color and the depth of the environment. The color mosaic is intended to be a feast for the viewer's eye. Irrigated crops are grown in the Vega de Granada. Roman and Arab ditches are still used for water supply. One of these canals is the Acequia Gorda or Acequia Mayor. Although the construction date of the Acequia Mayor is not known with certainty, it probably took place during the 11th century.
