Antique shaped wooden frame lacquered in mustard colour
On the back, old label which allocates the artwork to François Lemoyne (Paris, France, 1688 - 1737).
During a festive bacchanal a big satyr is eating grapes, lying on the ground and surrounded by a large group of putti who, with festoons and vine leaves, fill and populate the pictorial composition.
The cerulean tones of the sky juxtaposed with the reddish pigments of the bodies recall the mythological compositions of Poussin, to whom our maestro looks up to with attentive admiration, quoting his style and reinterpreting it in a more mature 18th-century taste.
