The series "Homage to Judas and the Crusaders" signed by Alexandru Rădvan illustrates "the last temptation" of Apostle Judas, the traitor. He hangs himself tormented between betrayal and the guilt of his action.
The achievement of the betrayal, the psychological pressure, the moment in which the temptation becomes a fact and the constant question in the background, if not Judas is the one that fulfills the Divine will, are some of Alexandru Rădvan's questions.
All are in plain sight, compassion and abjection, complicated and simple, profound and straight, pushing the tragedy to the endurable limit.

Alexandru Rădvan
Alexandru Rădvan was born in 1977. He grew up in Bucharest and studied from 1996 to 2000 at the National University of Art Bucharest in the class of professor Florin Mitroi. He is a lecturer at the National University of Art Bucharest, the Painting Department. His PhD thesis, "The fantastic image made by plastic means and literary means", is, like his entire creation, ample documentation and a fine commentary on ancient myths and mythologies. Alexandru Rădvan became a reference name in contemporary Romanian and international art, being interested in the way in which contemporary societies relate and interpret the mythical figures, the ancient characters and legends. His works have been presented over the years in numerous solo and group shows of which we will mention: "Island for Umberto", Anaid Art Gallery, Berlin, Germany (2020), "The Oldest Day", ARCUB, Bukarest, Romania (2019); "Partner for the Abyss", Bazis Contemporary, Cluj, Romania (2019); "The Sculptor's Studio", Museum of Art, Arad, Romania (2018); "Untochable Love" Anaid Art Gallery, Berlin, Germany (2018); "Monuments on the Move - Barbar", French Cultural Institute, Bucharest, Romania (2018); "Divine decadence", Kasteel van Gaasbeek, Gaasbeek, Belgium (2016); "Bucharest Artistic Education and Romanian Art After 1950", National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC), Bucharest, Romania (2015); "Badly Happy", Marina Abramović Institute West (The Performance Art Institute), San Francisco, USA (2010); "Messiahs", Modem - Center for Modern and Contemporary Art, Debrecen, Hungary (2009). His works are in important public and private collections in Romania, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Israel, France, Italy, Greece and the USA. He works and lives in Bucharest. "Adam & Eve Triptych" is a contemporary painting with surrealist elements such as the eyes in the clouds, the unknown and unknowable creatures painted and the biblical scene alluded to by the title. There is a definite Hieronymus Bosch attitude expressed by the creature in the first panel and the last panel. The sweetest creature is Eve as a very young, but nonetheless, suspicious and perhaps manipulative woman.
Renata Palubinskas was born in 1968 in Kaunas, Lithuania, at the time still in the Soviet Union as the Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic. She received her diploma in Fine Art and Restoration from St. Zukas Technium of Applied Arts in 1989. After working at the M.K. Ciurlionis State Museum of Art, she emigrated to the United States in the 1990s, basing herself in Detroit.
Renata's work rethinks historic iconography while intentionally addressing the modern world through a new perspective. The characters in her paintings are often caught between the struggle of good and evil. That struggle represents the choice of trying to obtain immediate gratification or realization of the self, and the haunting life experiences with latent possibilities for death.
Renata uses schematic compositions with purposefully positioned figures and other visual elements. To attract attention to the most significant figures, she often ornate their garments with intricate patterns. They are typically placed in either a serene landscape or an interior setting with a threatening presence around them.
