About the Item
The panels were designed ad decorations for 18th century french drugstores, and can be compared to those designed by the same Peyrotte (who was painter and furnitures designer for the King of France) for the Hotel Dieu Drugstore in Carpentas.
This motif, so called “singeries”, usually shows satirical scenes of monkeys in human dresses and behaviours, and it is very rare to find it in painting.
