Up for sale is an interesting antique original oil painting on board depicting a rural genre scene with a girl and geese.
Signed in the lower-left corner by Listed American Artist Arthur E. Schneider (1866-1942).
Dimensions (frame): 14 "W x 16.5" H
Dimensions (sight): 9.5 "W x 11.5" H
Condition: The painting has some scratches but overall is in good condition. The frame has some restored and repainted areas.
Arthur E. Schneider — painter and illustrator — was born in 1866 in Madison, WI, and died on February 7, 1942. He lived and worked in New York City (1905-1913), Cleveland, Chicago, Tampa, FL, and Boston, MA. Schneider is remembered for his landscapes, genre scenes, villages, streets, children, and Arabs.
Schneider studied in New York City and Europe and was a member of the American Watercolor Society in New York City; the New York Watercolor Club. In 1906 and 1912, he won a prize at the Salmagundi Club in New York City and, in 1913, a prize for his work at the American Watercolor Society.
