Vivid oil painting of a seated figure holding a terracotta vase, surrounded by hanging pottery, by August Lenox (American, 1908-1986). Signed "Lenox" lower left and titled "The Patient One" on verso. Unframed. Image, 36"H x 24"W.
August Lenox was born in North Dakota, and soon moved to Texas and then California where he worked for Walt Disney illustrations. As a young boy, he was fascinated by the adventures and lives of pirates and painted several scenes of them on canvases, and later, primarily painting western and Indian scenes.
