About the Item

A timeless red velvet armchair rests against a quiet wall, holding a small tower of old books. Their worn covers and faded pages whisper stories from another era, inviting whoever passes by to sit, read, and linger in a moment of stillness. Avi Balaish was born in 1954, Neve Neaman - Hod Hasharon. At a very young age, he was introduced to the world of drawing and art through the encouragement and support of his mother. While growing up Avi received his formal education in Kibbutz "kinneret"'. His studies in the "kibbutz" greatly influenced his world view as he encountered other cultural experiences. These experiences, while different than his previous past in Moshav Neve Neaman (a co-operative Israeli settlement), helped him merge both cultures, and molded his perception of reality. During this process, Avi's striking characteristic of being an autodidact was accentuated and he created and developed his own techniques. During his military service he took part in various art projects and also worked as an IDF base designer. Following his military service, he began working as a graphic designer and billboard artist in "Ovdai Pirsum Huzot" company which contracted large projects with many municipalities. During that time he was promoted to Studio manager. 1968 First exhibition - Ramatayim, Hod Hasharon . 1970 Group exhibition - Omanim House, Tel Aviv 1980 Exhibition - Yad Lebanim, Petach-Tikva 2001 Group exhibition - Omanim House, Tel Aviv 2004 Group exhibition - Hevrat Hachashmal, Tel-Aviv 2005 Exhbition - Art Expo, New York. 2006 Exhbition - Art Expo, New York. Currently he is employed as a studio manager and graphic designer. In addition, he is involved in the quality control aspects of the pharmaceutical field at the Ideal Printing Company.
