Bernard Krigstein was an influential American artist and illustrator best known for his groundbreaking contributions to mid-20th-century comic art and visual storytelling. Active during the Golden and Silver Ages of comics, Krigstein pushed the medium beyond pulp entertainment, introducing sophisticated pacing, psychological depth, and cinematic composition that reshaped narrative illustration.
After studying at the High School of Music
Art and the Art Students League in New York, Krigstein worked across multiple creative fields, including comics, fine art, illustration, and teaching. He is most celebrated for his work with EC Comics in the 1950s, particularly on titles such as Shock SuspenStories, Crime SuspenStories, and Weird Science. His story “Master Race” is widely regarded as one of the most important and formally innovative comics ever produced, noted for its fragmented layouts, emotional intensity, and moral gravity.
Beyond comics, Krigstein maintained a rigorous fine art practice, producing paintings and mixed-media works that reflect his interest in modernism, abstraction, and expressive form. His studio works often explore movement, psychological tension, and structure, bridging the worlds of illustration and contemporary art.
Krigstein later taught at institutions including Pratt Institute, influencing generations of artists through his emphasis on composition, visual rhythm, and intellectual rigor. Today, his work is held in major museum collections and is increasingly recognized by collectors and scholars for its lasting impact on both comics and modern visual culture.

Dynamic figurative composition by Bay area Figural, Abstract expressionist and notable Burning Man artist Jakob Bokulich (American, b. 1974). Jakob Bokulich (1974, Santa Cruz, CA) is a self-trained, multi-disciplinary artist known for his paintings and kinetic sculptures. His work is in the collection of the Croatian Embassy in Paris, and he was awarded an Honorarium grant in 2018 by Burning Man for his 21 foot-tall sculpture "Big Pollinator," which was years in the making and involved the work of over 100 volunteers.
The son of an auto mechanic, Bokulich began painting at age 12 after a house fire left his family homeless and he stayed temporarily with a local landscape painter. At 17 he left home for Europe - his art education was living in art squats and artist communities, and immersing himself in the museums and galleries of Europe. Drawing inspiration from living in a war zone in Croatia between 1993-1995, he exhibited in galleries in Paris, Saint-Tropez, Chamonix, and Split, Croatia.
Transitioning back to the U.S, the artist helped build artist communities in San Francisco and Oakland, being deeply involved in spaces such as Cellspace, The Artship, and The Creamery. In this phase of his practice, Bokulich explored performance and ritual, co-writing and performing in the film Hysteria by Antero Alli. This prompted his stay in LA working in film and set design. In 2015 the seasoned and well rounded artist moved to New York City to return to a studio practice, now informed by his experiences in ritual, meditation, and unconventional self exploration. Bokulich’s work reinforces modes of seeing in a world where the senses have become neglected.

Thomas Tribby (American, b. 1944) is an internationally known artist who has participated in solo and group exhibitions in the United States and Europe.
He works in a variety of media, including watercolor, acrylic, and oil. Tribby has gallery representation in Florida and his paintings have been featured in articles in Waterfront Home and Design and Architectural Digest. Tribby has participated in juried and invitational shows in Florida, California, Arizona, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Washington, D.C., and New York, and in Paris, France.
In December 2007, Tribby had the honor of being one of nine painters in the American Delegation at Le Salon des Beaux Arts de la Société Nationale des Beaux Arts exhibition, known as the Paris Salon, at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, where his painting, Lifeguard, was exhibited.
In January 2008 Tribby received from the Design Center of the Americas, DCOTA, the prestigious Stars of Design award in the category of Art.
Tribby lives and works in West Palm Beach, Florida.
