‘Morphosis II’ has been painted by the artist, Bill Bate, using oil paint on canvas.
This painting started out as a single figure but has been heavily reworked evolving into a scene depicting two bodies. The emphasis is on the different aspects of light, the warmer brighter areas against the half lit and more luminous areas of the figures. The edges of the canvas have no paint on and have been left bare. The artwork is contemporary and figurative. Bill Bate’s artwork focuses on the human form. By the use of dramatic light his atmospheric works are emotional responses to the body in movement, at rest, and the body observed.

Bill Bate
Bill Bate is a contemporary figurative artist. He was trained at the prestigious Central Saint Martins School of Art in London and developed the knowledge and understanding of his practice. His atmospheric paintings focus both on the uses of dramatic lighting and above all on the human form and are emotional responses to the body in movement, at rest, and the body observed. Bate's work has a broad range of influences from Caravaggio to Alma Tadema and Rothko.
