Late XIX Century Italian Signed Landscape Painting
A beautiful mountain painting by the great Italian artist Celestino Ghione, who specialised in this genre.
Dating back to the second half of the nineteenth century, it depicts with rare intensity a landscape with a snow-covered road and a village in the background, rendered with great poetry.
It is most likely a view of the Val di Susa, a setting very dear to our artist, who painted it several times from different perspectives and in different styles.
The silence and peace evoked by this painting are unrivalled, worthy of a great master of this genre: Celestino Ghione.
This artwork, never before on the market, comes from an important private collection and is beautified by an impressive original frame in gilded wood, in very good condition.
Every item of our Gallery, upon request, is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Sabrina Egidi official Expert in Italian furniture for the Chamber of Commerce of Rome and for the Rome Civil Courts.

Celestino Ghione
Active in Turin between 1873 and 1892
An artist trained in the tradition of Piedmontese genre and landscape painting, he was an active member of the Artists' Circle from the 1870s until the end of the century.
He found his favourite form of expression in landscape and mountain painting.
From 1873 to 1892, he occasionally participated in the annual exhibitions of the Società Promotrice Torinese with landscapes and views of Susa painted in oil and watercolour (1873, In Borgo San Pietro near the Chiusa di San Michele and Abbazia di San Giusto in Susa) and with genre or historical paintings (1876, Tra un colpo e l'altro; 1878, Parata in fiera; 1879, Flowers with Flowers; 1880, L'embarras du choix and The Countess of S. Sebastiano Receives Vittorio Amedeo II; 1892, Inseparable).
He was also present at the Italian General Exhibition in Turin in 1884 with the painting Piazza S. Giusto in Susa and with the study from life March Sun.
