In this series of oil-on-canvas works, the artist turns his gaze toward floral motifs. Rather than striving for precise depiction, Christophe Dupety aims to capture a pure sensation — the essence of the flower’s form, the harmony of its colors, and the exuberance of its bloom.
This approach embodies the artist’s philosophy, which he describes as seeking “to reveal the joy of painting — color, fluidity, spontaneity.” His vigorous, confident brushstrokes remain visible on the surface, and he embraces the “accidents” of painting — splashes, drips, and traces — that, as he notes, “can sometimes give a work its spark: energy, joy, something unexpected.”

Christophe Dupety
Christophe Dupety’s paintings express the vitality and spontaneity of gesture, free of all interference. They also reflect a taste for taking risks: refusing to control everything but, on the contrary, wanting to confront the chaos of life by involving phenomena linked to weightlessness, flow and accidents. For the artist, these can be used in a way that contributes to what he wants us to see: the joy of painting. An artist who favours a form of painting that can be read immediately, Christophe Dupety seeks to encourage a spontaneous emotional response in the viewer. “I always try to emphasise the joy of painting in my work: colour, shape and fluidity, and above all a sort of graphic challenge in which things always seem spontaneous and graphic in any case, because drawing has always been very important for me.’’
