Dale had an accomplished art career serving as a sculptor, painter and educator. His interest in the arts first began at the National Art and Music Camp in Interlochen, Michigan and he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in art education at Bowling Green State University and master’s degree at State University of New York at New Paltz. Dale taught students of all ages in New York and Northeast Ohio. In particular, he taught at Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin and Gilmour Academy. As a practicing artist, he gained success at local, as well as national, art shows leading to recognitions from the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, Silvermine Guild of Artists and Valley Art Center Board of Trustees. Dale believed in the power of public art and how it could transform and bring communities together. While the majority of his public art can be found throughout Northeast Ohio, such as the Dr. King Memorial in Mansfield and “The Gift” at Lorain County Community College, his other work has been featured at The Smithsonian Museum and The Cleveland Museum of Art. Dale also worked on a number of private and residential commissions in Chagrin Falls where he resided with his family for many years. Other career highlights for Dale included his work as restorationist for the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument in Cleveland’s Public Square, an award-winning banner designer for the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians) and New York Mets, and a published illustrator of a children’s book.
