Lorquin's Admiral (Limenitis lorquini) is a medium-sized butterfly found in western North America, known for its black wings with white bands and orange-brown forewing tips, with a reddish-brown underside. Named after French entomologist Pierre Joseph Michel Lorquin, it lives in riparian areas, forest edges, and parks, with caterpillars feeding on willows, poplars, and cherries, while adults nectar on various flowers.
The complexity of these small interactions and the spaces they create provide the backdrop to our daily musings but also the existence we sometimes take for granted. Danza hopes that viewers take a bit of that ineffable feeling of well being that comes from awe and wonder with them and that it brings them a bit closer to each other and the natural world we are all a part of.
