About the Item
"The still life with yellow apples". Acrylic on canvas by Elena Narkevich
Dimension art: 35 H x 27 W cm x 2 cm D
Dimension framed: 57 H x 49 W x 4 D cm
Elena Narkevich work is well known due to the ability to transmit emotions such as pleasure, surprise, sadness...
Although there are those who see in Elena's characters influences of Botero's voluptuous figures, Elena has been inspired by other sources: her fat women have emerged from the aesthetics of the "Matrioska", the wooden doll that is the most emblematic product of Russian craftsmanship. , reproducing the kind faces of the simple women of everyday life.
Elena Narkevich was born in Minsk-Belarus, and her paintings transmit a nostalgia for the traditional home warmth of her native country, for everything known, frequently repeating its folkloric elements such as the piled up Armenian carpets. Her spaces are very intimate, full of lyricism, nuanced with a refined sense of humor that enhances the strength with which she manages to transmit the communication of emotions.

Still life with basket. Spanish Contemporary Figurative Realism. Oil on panel

Still life with basket ("Bodegón con canasto #2"). Spanish contemporary figurative realism.
Oil on panel.
Dimensions: (H) 61 x (W) 100 x (D) 2 cm. / Inches 24.02 x 39.37 x 0.79 "

The fruits contained in an overturned basket are scattered on the table around an old bottle covered with esparto grass, giving a rich note of color and contrasting textures.
The warm light projected on the entire scene, the roughness of the back wall with its shadows, and the brightness of the horizontal plane of the table, constitute the environment of this delicate composition.
Juan Carlos Ospina Ortiz (Colombia 1963), practices realistic figuration with themes of clear Spanish influence. The artist settled in Andalusia (Spain), where, searching for his roots, he immersed himself in the music, folklore, and traditions of that country.
In his timeless classic still lifes, we can see the influence of the great masters of 17th century Spanish painting such as Zurbarán and Sanchez Cotán.

“Still Life with Apples”
Located in Southampton, NY
Here for your consideration is a very well executed still life with apples by the American artist, Richard C. Pionk. Signed lower right “Pionk”. Oil paint on card stock. Condition is excellent. Circa 1980. The artwork is housed in a gold leaf gallery frame from the period which is in fine condition. Overall framed measurements are 10.75 by 12.75 inches. Provenance: A Ellenton, Florida estate.
Richard Cletus Pionk (April 26, 1936 – June 5, 2007), beloved instructor of painting at the Art Students League of New York and president of the Salmagundi Club, died June 5, 2007, but his work stands as a masterclass in still life painting, primarily in oils and pastels.
Born April 26, 1936 in Moose Lake, Minnesota Pionk moved to New York City where he made a life revolving around painting and teaching.
Best known for his still lifes, portraits, and interior scenes in oils and pastels, Pionk learned much about classical still life painting by spending hours in his beloved museums, including the Brooklyn Museum and other New York museums, as well as the École du Louvre in Paris. Pionk studied the works of many artists, in particular Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin, Antoine Vollon, and Henri Fantin-Latour.
He also studied with Daniel Green and Sidney E. Dickinson at the Art Students League of New York. He later taught there, and at the Pastel Society of America School and the National Arts Club in New York. He was also the longest running president of the Salmagundi Club.
During his accomplished art career, Pionk earned more than 100 awards from the Pastel Society of America, Audubon Artists, National Arts Club, and numerous other professional associations. In 1984, he was named Master Pastelist by the Pastel Society of America, and in 1997 was inducted into the Pastel Hall of Fame. In 1994, his work was included in the Taiwanese exhibit, “Contemporary Pastel Artists...
