About Artist
Obiwuru Esther is a Nigerian base Artist who was born and lives in Lagos. She is a prolific painter that fell in love with Art after she was admitted to study Art and Industrial Design at the Lagos State Polytechnic, in between her studies, she did her industrial training at the Universal Studios of Art, Lagos. Her journey as an Artist has advanced over time as she develops her style of Art.
Esther is a figurative realism Artist that draws inspiration from her environment, thoughts, childhood memories, African beauty, and way of life. In her works, there is a blend of the modern and traditional way of life of Africans. According to the Artist “My work of Art is created to express my inner feelings, I want people to see hope in hopeless situations, the positive side of life, and reassure you of your dignity and self-worth. I didn’t choose Art, Art chose me. I am proud to be an Artist!
Esther’s works are realism paintings inspired by her environment, African beauty, and childhood memories. She wants people to see life for the way it is and simply be who they want to be as individuals. Her works inspire blacks to be persistent and reach for their goals. Esther achieves these realistic paintings by adding depths with smaller fine details to accentuate areas of interest, her use of vibrant colors, lines, and shapes for the background is also noticed in her works. Esther infuses the modern way of dressing to show the uniqueness and essence of African hairstyles. Working with acrylics or oil colors increases her boldness and gives her paintings a strong physical presence. Through her use of life-like imagery, lines, and colors, Esther’s subjects are enriched with a strong physical presence, showing their strength and resilience in these tough and challenging times.
Esther has been involved in a couple of group exhibitions and her works have been collected privately by art enthusiasts around the world.
