About the Item

The Polish artist Ewa Rzeznik reflects reality in her colorful paintings: Fishermen along the French coast, families walking towards the Mon Saint-Michel, children playing in the surf. The bright use of color, almost luminous, attracts the attention. Ewa's work radiates elegance and lightness. Her ability to depict fleeting moments, moments when things change and take on a new look through variations of the light, or when the painter's gaze changes is admirable. With an apparent nonchalance, few details, mixed with an infinite mastery of the palette knife, Ewa brings the characters and landscapes on the canvas to life. In ''Red Umbrella'', Eva Rzeznik portrays a tender moment between a mother and her child on a quiet shoreline. The striking red umbrella, held gently above them, becomes the heart of the scene, its vivid color glowing against the soft hues of sand, sea, and sky. It offers both shelter and symbolism: a small, protective world created within the vast openness of the beach. Rzeznik captures the subtle intimacy of everyday care. Their silhouettes echoing the rhythm of waves in front of them. The red umbrella frames their connection, suggesting warmth, safety, and the enduring bond that guides them through both calm and storm. The beach, with its shifting light and endless horizon, evokes a sense of new beginnings and fleeting moments. In this setting, the umbrella becomes more than an object; it is a quiet reminder of the ways we protect what we love, even in the simplest gestures. ''Red Umbrella'' transforms an ordinary day at the seaside into a poetic reflection on motherhood, presence, and the gentle strength found in shared moments. Ewa obtained a Master of Fine Art in 1994 from the University of Lublin, Poland and a postgraduate degree in Visual Communication in Paris. She works and lives in Bretagne, France.
