Hoskins (1887-1962) began his career as a cartoonist working for The Denver Post at age 14. His first illustration was published by Redbook magazine in 1907, the same year Howard Pyle invited him to study under him and Frank Schoonover. He built a steady career working for Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, Liberty, and Harper's Bazaar until he transitioned into Pulp magazines following the stock market crash.
