HUSH is a British mixed media artist who trained as a graphic designer at the Newcastle School of Art and Design. He worked as a toy designer in Japan, where he developed an appreciation for Japanese culture that continues to inform his work today. He combines the aesthetics of street art with motifs from Japanese iconography such as geishas and female manga characters. In his signature works, HUSH lays layers of vibrant wheat-paste patterns and graffiti over delicate stencils of women's faces.
These women are dressed in vibrant patterns that breathe new life into an ancient Japanese tradition. Upon close inspection of the works, one can see that Hush has created a seamless blend of old and new. Traditional Japanese colors and prints are used right alongside modern graffiti fonts cleverly disguised as fabric.
His unique approach to portraiture blends motifs from Eastern and Western art, resulting in abstract works that appear both glamorous and down to earth. HUSH's art spans a range of mediums, from outdoor murals to large and small-scale paintings, screen prints and, more recently, NFTs. His work has been exhibited in galleries across Europe, the United States and Australia.
HUSH was named in The Independent's "Top 20 Artists to Watch".

HUSH
Hush’s unique style, recognizable through its focus on the female form set within backgrounds filled with an expressionist’s freedom of layering and colour. The serene balance of traditional painting is combined with a messier passion, influenced by Western traditions of action painting and graffiti, culminating in a harmony that feels surprisingly natural.

John CRASH Matos is a true pioneer of the Graffiti movement. Crash was first noticed through his murals on subway cars and is now regarded as a pioneer of the Graffiti art movement.
His work is said to convey a "visual link between street life and established society". and in 1980, Crash curated the now iconic exhibition: "Graffiti Art Success for America" at Fashion MODA, launching the graffiti movement into a mainstream art movement.
In 1983, Crash was given his first major gallery showing at the legendary Sidney Janis Gallery in New York City. The first time a Graffiti artist ever exhibited at a major gallery, around the same time Keith Haring started showing at the Tony Shafrazi gallery, taking street art and graffiti art from the streets to a fine art gallery.
CRASH has been part of numerous museum and gallery shows around the world focusing on Graffiti and Street Art, and has works in many permanent museum collections.
