About the Item

Contemporary figurative acrylic on canvas painting by Polish artist Joanna Woyda. Painting is in minimalistic, pop art style. The artwork depicts a girl standing on the shoreline, she is visible from the back, her arms are stretched out. Colors are mostly blue with accent of green and beige. Artwork has very calming atmoshpere. Painting is part of the 'Beach' cycle. Joanna Woyda (b. 1981) Studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (2000-2005). She received her honorary degree in 2005. She was also a scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture (2003/2004). Her paintings are mostly self-portraits, painted with pure colors and inspired by the convention of photography. Joanna Woyda paintings are referring to the conventions of photography. The sea is the protagonist of many of her compositions. Simple, cool and minimalistic works are full of emotions hidden in a consistent form. Homogeneous environment is overflowing with sincerity and spontaneity. The artist documents contemporary life trying to embrace the mood of the passing moment. PROVENANCE Exhibited at Katarzyna Napiorkowska Gallery. The Gallery is a primary representative for this artist. The Gallery of Katarzyna Napiorkowska is one of the first private art galleries in Poland. For over 30 years, the gallery has been presenting contemporary paintings, graphics, drawings, and sculptures. Our galleries are located in Warsaw and Brussels. The portfolio of the Gallery includes selected objects of renowned Polish artists. In 2015, our Gallery was awarded the prestigious title of the Ambassador of the Polish Economy in the European Brand category awarded by the Business Center Club. CONDITION Very good condition. SHIPMENT The painting may arrive rolled in a strong tube or a box. Such a transport method is very safe for oversized works and provides lower shipping costs as well. Rolled works can be easily stretched by placing canvas onto wood stretcher bars and/or framed by a local framer upon arrival.

The patient waiting for Bresson's “decisive moment” characterizes the pictures of the young Polish painter Marzena Slusarczyk. The compositions of her works have the magic of a successful photography. Often with a powerful neckline, they use expressive foreshortened perspectives and unusual versions and they take us into an intimate dimension of the women portrayed. However, Slusarczyk's pictures are mainly emotions captured on canvas, and this is what makes her works so special. The women she paints perform normal, banal activities in everyday life.
