The artwork (canvas) size is 24 x 32 inches, framed size is 33.5 x 41.5 inches. Framed in original wooden gold frame, with fabric liner. It is in excellent condition.
About the artist:
Johannes Josephus (Jan) Hovener (1936) Johannes Josephus (Jan) Hovener was born in Rotterdam on 14th August, 1936. Hovener enjoyed the study at the Rotterdam Academy. After his studies, Hovener won the Talens Prize in 1959. It was therefore Willem Sandberg, director of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, who wrote the following about a self-portrait by Hovener: As someone who could do something and had an incredible vision. Especially for someone of twenty years old. Hovener initially started as a pottery painter with Delft blue at the Porceleyne Fles. Meanwhile, Hovener has more than half a century of experience and has become a all round impressionist. Hovener is also active as a teacher. So he could let his half brother, Peter van Berkel, also excited about painting and taught him the tricks of the trade. Peter van Berkel is known for his French landscapes. Classical Art. The art of Johannes Josephus Hovener is held in numerous private collections worldwide.
