About the Item
An expansive oil landscape of the Port of Rotterdam, attributed to Dutch impressionist Marinus Johannes de Jongere (1912-1978). The scene depicts a view of Europe's largest seaport with boats and barges on the water. Several of the port's tugs can be seen navigating through choppy waves to help manoeuvre a large cargo ship with cranes on board. The oil has been beautifully presented in an extravagant gilt-effect frame with acanthus strapwork. Unsigned. On canvas on stretchers. Image size: 49 x 63.5cm.
