About the Item

Medium: Oil on Canvas Signature: Signed Lower Left Sight Size 24.00" x 19.00", Framed 32.50" x 27.00" Cover of The Saturday Evening Post, August 26, 1922. Exhibitions: JC Leyendecker and The Saturday Evening Post, Norman Rockwell Museum, March 21, 2015 - June 14, 2015 Roger Reed Illustration House august 2014 This cover was inspired by a story the Editor of the Post, George Horace Lorimer, had told JC Leyendecker. The Story was about a woman he had seen on a beach. The lady, pleasantly in a stylish ruffled bathing suit, was confidently inflating water wings that seemed, for their rather small size, inadequate for the job. Leyendecker immortalized the comical scene in this work entitled Woman with Water Wings, which was subsequently featured on the cover of the August 26, 1922 Saturday Evening Post.
