About the Item
Júlia Martins Miranda is a Brazilian artist trained at the prestigious Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) in Milan, Italy. Her practice spans multiple disciplines, including painting, photography, videography, and music.
She moves between Milan, New York, Brazil, and Sicily. Currently, she works from her studio in Noto—a baroque town in Sicily—where she created her latest series, PINDORAMA.
Pindorama means “land of the palm trees,” the name used centuries ago by the Indigenous Tupi-Guarani peoples to describe the territory now known as Brazil. This series is a return to origins. Each painting emerges from a Brazilian poem or song through which the artist reconnects with her identity. Melodic contrasts, the strength of percussion, and the softness of lyrics give rise to powerful emotions that shape each work.
Through the celebration of nature’s magnificence, PINDORAMA highlights both ancestral memory and its essential connection to the present.
