Blue nude is swirling abstracted water figurative painting from Kim Frohsin's "Emergence" series from 2018. Frohsin, third generation Bay Area Figurative artist—from the movement that originated with David Park, Richard Diebenkorn, Rex Ashlock, Elmer Bischoff, Wayne Thiebaud, and James Weeks—began exhibiting in the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1990s, and in 1993 was included with Nathan Olivera, Manuel Neri and Stephen De Staebler in an exhibit of "Four Figures from the Bay." With Wayne Thiebaud as the juror, she won the California Society of Printmakers' Award in 1996, and the following year exhibited at the de Young Museum in San Francisco in "Bay Area Art: The Morgan Flagg Collection." Frohsin is a multidisciplinary visual artist, who is at home with painting, drawing, monoprintIng, and mixed media. Her subjects include the female figure as well as mundane ''objects" and series — including ‘Cautionary Tales’ , ‘Reliquaries’ and ‘Portraits of Numbers’— that attract her attention, and which are most often autobiographical in nature.
Includes a museum quality picture frame of pale ash wood and all archival materials used including uv filtering plexiglass.
The artist focused on this abstracted figures series in late 2018. Created iin gouache, watercolor, ink, tempera, acrylic, ink and pencils on paper. Signed by the artist, front in pencil and back in ink. Artwork is 13 x 9 1/2 inches. 21 x 17 1/2 inches including the frame, which is a minimal museum quality pale wood frame
