The scene depicted here refers to that popular dimension typical of Caravaggio's figurative culture. Several men in poor clothing stand and sit at an inverted barrel that serves as a table and are about to play morra. Morra was and is mainly played in the Mediterranean region and is related to our scissors, stone, paper. Another version of this painting is kept in the Pinacoteca Nazionale in Siena.
