The artist Mitzy Renooy in this painting shows what she likes to paint most. A child living in his own world, dancing on his own way.
Mitzy Renooy, artist and mother of four daughters, has exhibited twice before at Galerie Bonnard. At this moment, december 2019 and January 2020 she has her first solo exhibition.
Shortly after the opening exhibition in 2017, she impressed with a series about "reflection." Her well-performed yet loose touch allows light on the places that matter. With this she shows the essence of the work without being compelling.
During the earlier exhibitions at Galerie Bonnard, Mitzy admired her ability to create light and movement on a stationary and flat surface. Only one key with "light" seems to set a painting in motion. That is exactly what happens in this sparkling painting of the dancing boy.
The artist from Soest likes to work in "series". There are now series about Colombia, Cuba, water, movement and there is a series "Winter". This includes landscapes for the first time. The series have no end yet. These are themes that inspire the former camera woman at the NOS and within which she keeps coming up with new works.
The way Mitzy Renooy works shows her knowledge about anatomy, color and composition. The apparent ease with which she manages to portray her subjects appeals to the imagination and always evokes the wonder of the viewer.
After a flying start, Mitzy Renooy's work is now in collections throughout the Netherlands, Europe and the USA. Since a few years she has fully devoted herself to painting.
