Shipping Procedure Ships in a well-protected tube from Nigeria This work is unique, not a print or other type of copy. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (Issued by the Gallery) About Artist Oladimeji Alabi is a contemporary visual artist whose work transcends borders and mediums, bridging the richness of Yoruba tradition with the urgencies of modern life. Born in the vibrant city of Lagos, Nigeria, and now residing in Brooklyn, New York, Oladimeji channels his artistic vision to illuminate social, cultural, and environmental issues both within Nigeria and across the globe. A graduate of Fine Art from Yaba College of Technology, Oladimeji’s creative practice is a dynamic exploration of identity, memory, and resistance. Drawing deeply from his Yoruba heritage, his work serves as a living archive of cultural customs—ritual, rhythm, and symbolism—while confronting the realities of migration, climate change, inequality, and collective healing in the 21st century. His multifaceted portfolio spans paintings (acrylic, charcoal, spray paint, and LED), murals, illustrations, woodworks, street art, and hand-crafted wearable art. This breadth of expression reflects Oladimeji’s deep belief in art as a living force—something that can be worn, walked past, touched, felt, and shared. Internationally recognized, his evocative works have graced the pages of Vogue Germany (2021), been exhibited at the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts (2021), BLK Arthouse, Nigeria’s Nike Art Gallery, African Artists Foundation, and Heineken House in Amsterdam (2008). His artistic voice has been amplified through platforms like Artsy’s “ABSOLUTE Power” online show (2023), The Galleries of the Community College of Baltimore County, The Patrons Contemporary “Small is Beautiful” Miniatures Exhibition (2022), and Artist Movement (2020). Beyond his practice, Oladimeji has contributed significantly to the work of fellow professional artists as a studio and project assistant. His behind-the-scenes involvement has helped bring to life major installations and exhibitions, including works showcased at the Smithsonian Museum of African Art in Washington, D.C., and a large-scale mural project at the META headquarters in Dubai, UAE—further cementing his role in shaping contemporary visual narratives on a global stage. Equally committed to art as a tool for transformation, Oladimeji has led impactful community-centered projects. Notably, he contributed to “Still the Wretched”, a powerful collaborative theatre performance in Lagos (2018); participated in the Art in Medicine Cohort (2018); and served as a creative mentor to youth in fashion and visual arts at Children International School, Lagos. Since relocating to the U.S. in 2024, Oladimeji has continued to evolve his practice and purpose. He founded and oversees his creative venture, Art of Alabi Studio, while working at the Lewis Latimer House Museum and engaging in art education. His therapeutic mural workshop at The Children's Village in Dobbs Ferry empowered local youth, and his role as a teaching artist with “Guns Down, Life Up” at Lincoln Hospital, Bronx has opened new pathways for using art as healing for African American youth. In 2024, Oladimeji marked a milestone with his U.S. debut group exhibition at Global Vision Art Gallery, Brooklyn, titled “Let’s Dance.” This was followed by “The Red Art Show” at Saint Mark's Gallery (Manhattan), and participation in Black History and Women's HerStory Month celebrations at the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building, Harlem (2025). Most recently, his work was exhibited at the Black Boy Art Event at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Through every canvas, mural, and workshop, Oladimeji Alabi’s work pulses with life—bearing witness, inviting dialogue, and honoring both ancestral wisdom and contemporary urgency. With a voice rooted in heritage and a vision fixed firmly on the future, he continues to shape a bold narrative in the global art landscape—one where culture, healing, and innovation coexist.
