C. Bhagyanath - Untitled - 36 x 36 inches (unframed size) Oil on Canvas ( UNFRAMED ALL IN DELIVERED PRICE ) Born in 1968 in Tellicherry, Kerela, C. Bhagyanath received his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (painting) from the College of Fine Arts, Triavandrum, in 1992. Following this, the artist went on to study at the Sarojini Naidu School of Performing Arts, Fine Arts and Communication in Hyderabad, where he received his Master’s degree in the same subject in 2006. Some of the solo exhibitions in which Bhagyanath’s works have been exhibited include 'Ventriloquism' at Kashi Art Gallery, Kochi, in 2010-2011; 'In Limbo' at Project 88, Mumbai, in 2009; exhibitions at Kashi Art Gallery, Kochi, in 2006; and Kannur in 2004. He has also taken part in several group exhibitions, some of which include 'A. SYCO' at the Viewing Room, Mumbai; 'The Way We Are' at Mon Art Gallery, Kolkata; 'Evidentia' at Gallery Sumukha, Chennai and Bangalore; 'Re-claim/Re-cite/Re-cycle' at Bose Pacia, Kolkata; 'Recycled' at Travancore Palace, New Delhi; 'Metamorphosis: Change and Continuity in Indian Art' at Phyllis Weston-Annie Boiling Gallery, USA; 'The Big Picture' at Welcomart Gallery; Gallery and 'Pastiche' at Chaitanya Art Gallery, Kochi. Bhagyanath was awarded the State Lalit Kala Akademi Award, Kerala, in 2002. The artist lives and works in Kerala. Rahim Mirza - Untitled Acrylic on Canvas, 18 x 18 inches (unframed size) Born in 1969, Rahim Mirza completed his art education at Bharat Bhavan in Bhopal, where he studied printmaking. Mirza’s current body of work however, is largely made up of acrylics on canvas. The leaf occupies a central motif in much of his work, representing, perhaps, a multiplicity of emotions; while the appearance of the first leaf signifies Spring and renewal, the shedding of the brown leaves in Autumn heralds the onset of winter. It is these subtleties and the complexity of the simple motif that intrigue the artist. While Mirza focuses on the leaf, he chooses to remove it from its natural environment. Thus while the leaf is a prominent symbol in his work, there generally is no sign of a tree or any context beyond its form. In its multiplicity, the artist creates rhythm and meaning that is far beyond its reach. Mirza had his first solo exhibition at Crimson Art Gallery, Mumbai, in 2000. This was followed by others at Archer Art Gallery, Ahmedabad, in 2001; and Diara art Gallery in 2002. His work has also been a part of group shows like 'Collective Spaces' at M.E.C.
