About the Item
'Any Day in America' by Ron Croci.
Social Realist, Beat Generation, Allen Ginsberg
-----
Signed lower right, "Croci" for Ron Croci (American, born 1945), and painted circa 1970.
A substantial, Social Realist watercolor showing a view of a ramshackle rust-belt landscape with the victims of a multiple homicide sprawled across and around a vintage Oldsmobile sedan. A woman weeps as a policeman gazes skyward against a finely-detailed background of corroding mid-century industrialism and crumpled, giant dollar bills. This painting was commissioned as an illustration for the, eventually, unpublished fine-art book treatment of Allen Ginsberg's poem 'The Fall of America'.
