About the Item
Stunning and alluring painting showing Sampson succumbing to the wiles of the sensual temptress Delilah. Done in a manner that is reminiscent of the murals of the WPA, the art deco period, and early British Modernism, we believe this painting dates from the 1920's, the period just when the excess of the 20s were catching up those who had reveled in a booming economy. This painting is oil on canvas, and is in excellent conserved, relined condition. A fabulous period image. Possibly signed lower right.
