A charming late 19th century genre scene reminiscent of the 17th century Dutch tavern painting tradition, depicting a gentleman gleefully playing the lute, whilst an elderly lady prepares food behind him. Signed indistinctly to the lower right. Handsomely presented in a gilt frame with acanthus pattern to the inner, as well as ribbon and stick pattern to the outer. On panel.
