About the Item
Oil on walnut board.
The painting follows early 16th-century Tuscan models (e.g., the pictorial mode of Domenico Puligo), but is of slightly later production and weaker hand, from "peripheral" production.
The utterly traditional subject proposes the Madonna suckling the baby Jesus, framed by a curtain; the baby, while sucking at his mother's breast, looks toward the viewer, while the mother she stares tenderly at her son.
On the back of the panel appears the monogram C.P., probably indicating the author.
The board has several small color drops.
