Oil on Canvas. Emilian school of the 17th century.
Traditional depiction of the Holy Family, in half-length foreground, with baby Jesus, who, while sucking milk at his mother's breast, turns his gaze back toward the viewer, indicating how he is already projected into his future; Mary and Joseph look tenderly at the Child, the putative father in the background and in the 'shadows, so as not to detract from the centrality of the other two figures.
Previously subjected to restoration and re-framing, the painting is in good condition and is presented in a late 19th-century gilt frame.
