Signed and Stamped with studio stamp to the reverse
Oil on canvas laid to board
10½ x 8½ inches without frame
13 x 11 inches with frame.
Painter, notably of commissioned portraits, born in north Wales. He studied at Newcastle University’s fine art department, 1967–73, moving to London in 1974 to establish himself as a portrait painter. Also became noted for watercolour interiors and landscapes, working in Britain and abroad. Was elected RP, 1986. Showed at RA, Anthony Mould Ltd, Agnew, Richmond Gallery and elsewhere. Had a series of solo shows at Cadogan Contemporary. In 1978 Morgan was commissioned by the Carlton Club to paint Lord Home of the Hirsel, the former prime minister. Many other commissions included the composer Herbert Howells, the playwright Tom Stoppard and the poet Philip Larkin, as well as members of the British and foreign royal families.
