About the Item

This original 1940 Modernist still life oil painting by celebrated American artist John Edward Thompson (1882–1945) showcases a bold and expressive floral arrangement, rendered with the vibrant color and confident brushwork that define Thompson’s influential style. Set within a warm interior, a vase brimming with red, yellow, blue-purple, and white blossoms sits atop a deep red tablecloth, creating a striking interplay of color, light, and texture. The composition balances Post-Impressionist sensibilities with an emerging American Modernist voice, highlighting Thompson’s mastery of harmony, depth, and dynamic form. This richly painted work remains in very good vintage condition, retaining exceptional color saturation and fine detail. It is presented in a high-quality custom frame.
