The painting shows a docent in the interior of Fonthill Castle in Pennsylvania. The entire castle features exquisite handmade tiles embedded in the concrete construction. It features numerous windows, hallways, rooms, fireplaces, and stairways. A docent leads the tourists through most of the rooms and stops at strategic areas to expand upon the unique features. Here, the docent stops to describe the fabrication of a window niche.
About the Artist
Artist Onelio Marrero paints impressionist scenes that capture the romanticism of New York City or the soothing quiet of a rippling pond. His work evokes nostalgia and intimacy, giving the viewer a sense of having visited the same places before. “Each play of light, each texture, and each movement of a figure can have a captivating effect on me,†says Onelio. Living in New Jersey, he enjoys the luxury of having his favorite subjects to paint—whether it's the urban surroundings or the abundant nature just a short walk from his home. When he’s not painting, Onelio spends time with his grandchildren and immediate family, cultivates bonsai plants, and reads.
